Hanging lantern 釣り灯籠 (tsuri’dôrô) - Patinated bronze - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)
A fine green patinated bronze hanging lantern 釣灯籠 (tsuri dôrô), elegantly shaped as a thatched house. Each side features a lattice window of a different form: a crescent moon, lozenge, circle (sun), and rectangle, some entwined with delicate scrolling vines.
The rectangular window is subtly designed as a hinged door allowing access to place a light source inside. The thatched roof is adorned with a loop formed from a curling vine tendril and detailed with intentional crafted weathering to the straw.
Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868–1912).
Dimensions:
Height 24.5 cm, Width 26.5 cm, Depth 17.5 cm.
In very good condition, with a beautiful natural patina developed through long outdoor exposure, as originally intended. Please refer to the photos for a detailed condition reference.
When shipped, we will include a certificate of authenticity.
Please note: Due to the holidays, shipping and handling times may be longer. Thank you for your understanding.
