Impressive Balinese Dvarapala temple guardian pair, hand-carved from solid wood, Indonesia (Bali), late 20th century.

The two figures are richly decorated. They are typical representations of traditional guardian figures with Keris daggers, expressive faces, strong body tension, and elaborately crafted back and wing ornaments.

Such Dvarapala traditionally serve to protect temple and house entrances and are also important examples of Balinese woodcarving.
