Description from the seller

18th-century cherry and walnut chest – Lombardy, 18th century

Elegant chest from the 18th century, probably of Lombard craftsmanship, made of cherry and walnut wood. The top, in a single cherry slab, is a valuable detail that is rarely found. The structural design is linear and simple, enhanced on the front by a decorative frame and an original carved motif from the period.

The legs are shelf-shaped, giving the furniture a sober yet refined character, typical of 18th-century northern Italy production.

Internally, there is an incomplete coin holder, a sign of a probable reconsideration during the original manufacturing process.

The storage bench is equipped with an original lock and latch, but the key is no longer present.

Conditions:

Structurally stable and in order.

There are subsequent modifications and alterations, mainly visible internally.

Signs of inactive termites.

Presence of natural cracks and fissures caused by the movement of wood over time.

The dating is supported by the presence of hand-forged square nails, the formal setting, and the materials used.

Despite signs of age, the furniture is fully functional and ready to be used in classic decor environments or as a collectible piece.

Dimensions:

Length: 127 cm

Depth: 47 cm

Height: 51 cm

Given that the size and especially the weight would affect the potential shipping cost, in addition to the option of personal pickup, I am available for personal transportation, by prior arrangement, in Northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Southern Germany.
