Description from the seller

Jean Messagier, born in Paris on July 13, 1920, and died in Montbéliard on September 10, 1999, was a French painter, engraver, and sculptor.
He first distinguished himself as an abstract painter associated with the Second School of Paris and lyric abstraction. He refused to be confined to a categorization between abstraction and figuration, cultivated a singular artistic language, and drew inspiration from the forces of nature and his intimate relationship with it.
The etching shows darkening at the edges.
