An exceptionally charming vintage music box in the shape of an elegantly dressed cat, a type one rarely encounters.
Not a classic figure like a ballerina or clown, but a theatrical, almost fairy-tale cat character, which immediately distinguishes this piece and makes it appealing to collectors.

The cat is crafted with a hand-painted head made of composite/paper-mâché, with refined brushstrokes that are also visible on the back.
This points to an older, artisanal construction and not to later plastic mass production.
The body is clad in richly detailed, brocade-like fabrics with a subtle metallic thread shine and decorative pearl-like buttons.
The clothing is in exceptionally beautiful condition, which is particularly rare for this kind of older music boxes.

The mechanical music mechanism is wound up with a large metal key at the back, typical of mid-20th-century music mechanisms.

The musical work is functioning fairly well.

The upholstered plinth, finished with decorative trim, has also been carefully completed and is in beautiful condition.
