Memoirs of General Baron de Marbot at Plon, undated (circa 1891), mention of the forty-second edition, 3 volumes bound in half red morocco, with gilt title and volume numbers on the spine, gilt head.
One of the great classics of the Memoirs of the Empire. General Jean Baptiste, Baron de Marbot, is famous for this work published by his descendants.
In the header on each title page: 'I urge Colonel Marbot to continue writing in defense of the glory of the French armies and to confound their calumniators and apostates (Testament of Napoleon).'
Volume I: (12), 390 pages: Gène-Austerlitz-Eylau
Volume II: (6), 495 pages: Madrid-Essling-Torres-Vedras
Tome III :(6), 466 pages: Polotsk-La Beresina-Leipzig-Waterloo
Faded covers and corners, lack of leather on the rear cover of Volume III, slight dampness on the first pages of Volume III (see photos).
