Esta caja de madera, datada entre finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, es una pieza de gran presencia y refinamiento, probablemente concebida como cigarrera para uso doméstico o de salón. Su tamaño generoso y estructura sólida sugieren una función práctica, pero su ornamentación revela una clara intención decorativa.

Está tallada en madera con relieves simétricos en los laterales, de inspiración vegetal y geométrica, que evocan el gusto historicista propio del estilo Napoleón III. Este estilo, caracterizado por la mezcla ecléctica de influencias neoclásicas, barrocas y renacentistas, se manifiesta aquí en la riqueza ornamental y el cuidado por los detalles.

La tapa inclinada presenta tres botones o elementos circulares que podrían formar parte de un mecanismo o simplemente servir como decoración. Lo más distintivo son las incrustaciones de piedras naturales, que aportan color, textura y un aire de lujo discreto. Estas piedras, posiblemente ágatas, jaspes o similares, están integradas con precisión en el diseño, realzando el carácter artesanal de la pieza.

La combinación de madera tallada, elementos metálicos y piedras semipreciosas sugiere una obra realizada por un taller especializado, destinada a un entorno burgués o aristocrático. Su estilo, materiales y función la sitúan con bastante probabilidad dentro del repertorio decorativo del Segundo Imperio francés, lo que la vincula directamente con el estilo Napoleón III.
