Description from the seller
Side table – plant stand
This type of furniture is an example of the Dutch Art Deco Amsterdam School style, an oak side table. This style is characterized by expressive and abstract forms, clean lines and geometric elements.
The table probably dates from the 1920s to the 1940s.
The design is both sober and artistic, with four sculpted legs that come together in an octagonal tabletop. The joints under the top are made of iron and secured with flat-head screws. They contribute to the aesthetics.
The tabletop is 40 by 40 centimeters, and the height of the table is 70 cm.
The table is made of solid oak.
The table is well maintained with wood oil or wax. There are beautiful patterns visible as a result and a warm wood colour. There are, as is often the case in this style, black components; the lower "feet" of the leg made from a single piece and the teardrop-shaped decorations at the top are blackened. The decorations at the top, all four of them, are still present, which is exceptional after so many years.
The table is crafted in the distinctive architectural style of the Amsterdam School.
Reported status: good. Signs of use, consistent with age, dents on the edges of the table legs from placing and removing objects from the lower shelf. Some warped wood on the top surface. Additionally, the table is stable, but not sturdy. I assume the table will be set down and put into use. If you expect to move it frequently in the future, I recommend reinforcing the table. There is no breakage or damage such as missing or broken pieces. This is an antique and, for this style, a richly decorated piece of craftsmanship.
As you can see in the photos, the table is always well maintained. I have taken photos from all sides.
Please examine the photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
The table has higher shipping costs due to its size. Please review these before bidding. The table will be well packed and insured for shipment. If you are bidding from the Netherlands, I would be happy to give you the option to pick up the table.
