You are bidding on a very fine and rare 4/4 viola, labeled Cesare Candi fece in Genova l' anno 1907 and signed Cesare Candi. The instrument is in ready to play condition with no cracks.
The viola has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The whole length of the violin is 650 mm and the back 390 mm. Width of the upper bout: 182 mm; middle: 127 mm; lower: 227 mm. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power.
