Sitwell. Illustrated throughout with forty-eight plates, engravings in the text, and coloured half-titles to each new section. Including chapters on the origin of Venice, influential figures and families, its artwork, and much more. Charles Yriarte studied architecture at one of France's most prestigious art school. From here he worked as an inspector, surveying government buildings, before joining the military. He would later become and magazine editor, and begin to write prolifically. Folio, bound in the publishers green cloth, gilt decoration to the upper board and spine. The contents are complete in xviii, 317pp. Condition: Binding is in good condition and holding firm. The binding lightly rubbed and marked to surfaces, abraded to corners. Contents are in good condition, cracked to inner hinges with block shaken, toned and with the occasional smudge or mark. Staining to endpapers. Ink ownership to title. Please see images for further condition.
