Chinese large pale celadon and russet nephrite jade pixiu sculpture - China – mid of 20th Century On offer is a nicely carved grey-white pale celadon and russet nephrite jade sculpture of a large pixiu. This large and heavy jade sculpture is made in the Chinese taste and has natural russet accents that are combined with carved details on the sculpture. In various places, the natural brown color is used to show details, such as the bat with a coin in its mouth. This older pixiu has been nicely sculpted in detail. It has a matt-gloss finish and can be dated to the mid-20th Century. Has been identified as nephrite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. Also checked with UV light; which indicates a natural color. Provenance: This jade comes from inland China. a Valuable and rare jade, very suitable as an addition to your high-end collection or to present as a gift!
