English Botany: 21 handcoloured plates including orchids - 1852

A selection of twenty-one original plates from "English Botany" by James Sowerby, London, Third Edition, Vol. VII, 1852.
Each plate was partly handcoloured at the time and shows different species of plants. A number of plates showing orchids are included.
Technique: copper engraving. Plate size: cm. 21,5 X 13 (8,5 X 5 inch). Back is blank.
Name of plants are reported in Latin and same plates also includes reference number to previus editions.

Plate colours are still bright, however some foxing due to the age may appear here and there.
