Egermann Smoky Vase, a one‑of‑a‑kind Bohemian crystal hand‑blown vase from Nový Bor, 28 cm high, 13 cm wide and 13 cm deep, weighing about 3.4 kg, in smoky grey with an amber undertone, by Egermann, with as new condition.
Description from the seller
Up for auction is an exceptional massive Bohemian crystal vase by the renowned Czech glassmaker Egermann, representing the finest tradition of hand-crafted hot-worked glass from Nový Bor.
This sculptural vase is hand-blown directly from molten glass and shaped without the use of molds, resulting in a powerful, organic silhouette with flowing lines and a deeply expressive form. The thick glass walls and extremely heavy solid base give the piece outstanding stability and a strong, almost architectural presence.
The color can be described as smoky grey with a warm amber undertone (often referred to as smoke amber). Depending on the light, the tone subtly shifts between soft grey, warm amber, and gentle olive hues, creating depth, movement, and a refined optical effect.
Despite its height of 28 cm, the vase feels exceptionally substantial thanks to its impressive weight of approximately 3.4 kg, clearly reflecting true hot-worked studio glass rather than light decorative production.
Each piece is an original one-of-a-kind. Minor variations in shape, color flow, and internal structure are a natural and desirable hallmark of authentic handmade glass.
Egermann glass carries the historic legacy of Fridrich Egermann (1777–1864), one of the most influential figures in Bohemian glass history. For generations, Egermann stood for innovation, craftsmanship, and international prestige. Today, original hot-worked Egermann pieces are becoming increasingly rare.
