Mahahoni Schreibpult für Offiziere mit Messing-Klappgriffen an den Seiten, Messingkanten und Messingecken und Messingplakette an der Oberseite. Herausnehmbare Stiftablage, ein aufklappbares Fach mit Deckel für Stifte, Schreibfedern, usw. Die inner Hauptfläche ist mit schwarzem Leder mit goldener Prägung überzogen. Ein zweiseitiger Einsatz offenbart beim Öffnen zwei separate Aufbewahrungsbereiche für Briefe und Dokumente und drei kleine Schubladen. Auf der Plakette steht die Gravur: "Überreicht an John Lohe Esq. aus Burnside als Zeichen der Wertschätzung von seinem Bibelkurs, 20. Okt. 1876".
Zugang zu einer Geheimschublade nach Entfernen eines Messingbolzens. Wunderschöner Originalzustand des Holzes und des Leders mit Patina. 

Mitglieder des Britischen Militärs bevorzugten langlebige Schreibkästen. Diese Schreibkästen wurden als Militär- oder Feldzugkästen bekannt und waren ein wichtiger Teil der Feldausstattung eines britischen Offiziers. Das Leben eines Soldaten drehte sich um seine Post. Offiziere nutzten ihre Feldzugkästen um militärische Dokumente zu verfassen und Briefe nach Hause zu schreiben. Feldzugkästen waren einer der persönlichsten Gegenstände, die ein Soldat mitnahm, wenn er in die Schlacht zog.
