Description from the seller
Elegant antique walking cane | silver-plated knob | 87 cm
A masterpiece of bourgeois elegance.
An extraordinary walking cane from the Belle Époque (circa 1880–1920) – a fascinating testament to that era as a fashion accessory.
The splendid, spherical knob (4 cm in diameter) impresses with its noble silvering and the artful grooved melon design. The naturally grown patina with its subtle wear marks underscores the authenticity and the respectable age of this gentleman’s accessory. Each groove tells of times past and gives the cane its unmistakable character.
The noble shaft made from 87 cm of refined bamboo wood in a warm honey-brown shade, displaying natural grain and characteristic knots. The wood reveals a wonderful patina that testifies to careful use. A high-quality metal band (probably also silver-plated) stabilizes the shaft — a detail that underscores the quality of the craftsmanship.
