Hilhouse & Co were quality hat makers and retailers located in central London, competing with iconic names such as Lock & Co and Christy’s. The company catered to a well-to-do clientele and maintained a solid reputation, evidenced by appearance in the 1937 fashion press and presence in the Mayfair/New Bond Street hatter's trade. The hat is in good condition with minor marks and with the original lining and no moth or sweatband damage and marked 7 1/4, the internal dimensions are, 20cm front to back, 16cm side to side and with a circumference of 58cm, the hatbox measures 34 x 29.5 x 23cm.
