Keiten was designated a Living National Treasure (Important Intangible Cultural Property) in 1996 for his exceptional skill in "Cha-no-yu" (tea ceremony) kettle making.

The Artisan: Keiten Takahashi was a master of the Yamagata casting tradition. His works are celebrated for their elegant forms and sophisticated textures, highly sought after by collectors of fine Japanese metalwork.
