Signed photograph by one of the greatest gymnasts in history, Nadia Elena Comăneci. The autograph was obtained after an event. You can see the photo from the moment of the signing. The size of the photograph is 20x30 cm.
Nadia Comăneci is a former Romanian gymnast who became a U.S. citizen.
She was one of the early gymnasts trained by Béla Károlyi. She won nine Olympic medals; five golds. She was the first gymnast to score ten points (a perfect score) in an Olympic artistic gymnastics competition. She earned four World Championship medals and twelve European Championship medals. Alongside the Russian Svetlana Khorkina, she holds the title of a three-time European all-around champion, in addition to being a two-time Olympic balance beam champion. In national championships, she was a five-time all-around champion.
One of the most well-known gymnasts, Comăneci, along with Olga Korbut of the Soviet Union, showcased artistry and grace, which gave unprecedented worldwide popularity to this sport in the mid-1970s. In 2000, Comăneci was named one of the athletes of the 20th century by the Laureus World Sports Academy.
He has lived in the United States since 1989, when he defected from the then-communist Romania before its revolution in December. He worked and married the American Olympic gymnast Bart Conner, who founded his school.
After fleeing the communist regime, she became a U.S. citizen. There, she had her first and only child, Dylan. She opened a gym and a company that manufactures gym equipment, which also produces a line of clothing.
Since her retirement, Comăneci has continued to be involved in sports: she is a member of associations and federations, founded a philanthropic institution, and collaborates with similar organizations both in Romania and the United States. She also contributes to the magazine International Gymnast alongside her husband, former gymnast Bart Conner.
Considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, she was awarded the Olympic Order twice; the first time, she became the youngest athlete to receive the honor. She was named one of the hundred most important women of the 20th century. Since 1993, she has been part of the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. She was named 'Hero of Socialist Labour' by Romanian communist leader Nicolae Ceauşescu. She was voted the country's most important athlete in 2006. In 2007, she was chosen by the public as the most trustworthy celebrity in the country. Mundo Deportivo named her the best athlete of the 20th century, and she received the world record title in her sport from the World Records Academy.
