AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

From the Lostlands series; focusing on the untouched primal land, the early world.
To evoke the primal land, to bring it back and reconstruct it.
The setting sun must dramatically emphasize the sense of time here.

Lostland XVII, oil on canvas, 2004. In excellent condition. Signed; Peter Hey 2004

Peter Heij, born Utrecht. Lives and works in Job, Auvergne, Puy de Dôme, France. Previously, among other places, in Amsterdam.
Did the Koninklijke Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving (akv | St Joost) in Den Bosch complete a program with a specialization in painting (1982–1987)?
During this period, and afterwards, I worked figuratively, expressively, and even abstractly, in order to pursue the realism with which I had initially begun in my youth.
Themes and subjects relate to humans and identity in relation to the environment (series Figures/Gestalten), landscapes with reconstructions of the past (Lostlands), or sky-beings as an attempt to capture and shape the intangible (Skyscapes). More recently, the landscapes with traces of the inhabitants (Santa Fe footpaths) or faces as sketches of memories (Faces).
In photo-paintings, the realistic representation of the photograph is altered with paint or another technique. Through this intervention, the captured and still reality is changed, questioned, and relativized.

The central aim is to elevate beyond and to alienate the everyday reality, without losing sight of reality, in order to discover other, or perhaps new, insights and awareness.
