In its center, it features a figurative scene depicting a female figure seated in a vegetal setting, holding a violin. The scene, allegorically inspired, evokes the theme of music: the young woman seems to compose or bring forth a melody, represented by a musical staff on which small birds perch, creating an elegant and poetic composition, rendered in the tradition of 19th-century Sèvres-style décors.

The marli features a blue ground enhanced with gilding, alternating with painted floral reserves, characteristic of French porcelain from that period.

The back bears a red mark 'Doré à Sèvres', with a crowned N and the number 70, as well as a supplementary mark 'S.70'.
