The kanun is a type of zither with a trapezoidal shape, featuring 78 to 81 strings stretched across its wooden body. The musician plays the kanun by plucking the strings with small plectrums, known as "mızrap," held between the index fingers and thumbs.

The instrument's strings and pegs were refurbished by the master craftsman. There are traces of use due to its age and previous use. It is not in perfect condition. The average age is 40 years old.
