Elegant wall-misula (shelf) in glazed majolica, 20 cm high, 13 cm wide and 10 cm deep, made in Italy and dating to circa 1800–1850, decorated with three putti in relief and a blue cobalt, ochre yellow and emerald green palette.
Description from the seller
Elegant wall-mounted console (faience) glazed, richly decorated with three relief figures of putti (cherubs) that appear to support the upper structure. The piece features a vibrant color palette typical of the majolica tradition, with predominant cobalt blue, ochre yellow, and emerald green.
The design includes classical elements such as the 'Greek' pattern (meander) in the central area and stylized foliage on the upper edge. The top is flat, intended to display small art objects or sculptures.
Period: Late 19th century or early 20th century (Circa 1890-1920).
Origin: Probably Italian (Cantagalli or Ginori style) or French (Rouen/Nevers style), following the aesthetic of the Italian Renaissance.
Material: Ceramic/Polychrome faience.
Condition: Generally good for its age. It shows the natural crazing of the glaze, small pinpoint flaws along the upper edge, and a hairline crack (superficial fissure) at the upper support base, visible in the photos, which does not compromise structural integrity.
Installation: It has original holes on the back for secure wall mounting.
Height 20 cm
Base width 13 cm
