Bronze incense burner titled 'Wierookbrander', late 20th‑century dynastic style, 6 cm high, 14 cm wide and 12.5 cm deep, in good condition.
Description from the seller
This is a traditional Chinese incense burner (香炉, xiāng lú), made of bronze with a beautiful dark brown patina.
The broad, low form with flaring walls is characteristic of ceremonial incense burners that were used in temples, on altars, or in scholarly households.
Decorative Elements:
Taotie mask: The prominent relief on the front shows a stylized mask with symmetrical curls and volute motifs, possibly a taotie (饕餮) — a mythical creature that is often found on ritual bronzes.
Gold specks: The yellow/golden patches are probably remnants of gilding or gold leaf that have partially worn away over time.
This item can be shipped together with my other items in this auction so that you only have to pay the shipping costs once.
Weight: 800 grams.
