Description from the seller
Curule stool in Neoclassical style – Carved and gilded wood – Italy – Mid-20th century
Description
Elegant and scenographic X-shaped stool (or curule seat) in Neoclassical style, clearly inspired by the Empire era. The piece is made of wood, finely carved, and features a refined gold leaf finish, characterized by a splendid patina of age that enhances its volumes and decorative details.
The structure is distinguished by the iconic curved, crossed legs, joined in the center by a crossbar decorated with a carved cartouche motif. The armrests end with elegant scrolls, giving the object a harmonious and regal profile.
The seat is enhanced by a fixed padded cushion, upholstered in a fine damask fabric in a red Bordeaux/ruby color, with classic tone-on-tone floral motifs that create a perfect chromatic contrast with the gilding of the frame.
