Description from the seller
Large Hindu devotional sculpture depicting the goddess Kali, India, early 20th century.
Sculpture made using the traditional lost-wax casting technique (copper alloy – solid bronze). The goddess Kali is depicted in her dynamic pose of the cosmic dance, with multiple arms holding her symbolic attributes (ritual weapon, severed head), a garland of heads and a protruding tongue, iconography characteristic of the Hindu tantric tradition.
Heavy and massive bronze (weight about 4 kg), testifying to an ancient manufacture of ceremonial quality. Natural, warm-brown patina from age has been deliberately preserved, not cleaned in order to preserve the object's authenticity and history.
Religious object intended for a home altar or ritual use.

Period: circa 1900–1940
Material: solid bronze
Height: approx. 25 cm (with base)
Width: approx. 16 cm
Weight: approx. 4 kg
Condition: good for its age, original patina, normal signs of use from ritual use and the passage of time.
