Description from the seller
Magnificent mid-century modern Vallauris plates in glazed majolica ceramic.
These plates feature a retro design with a segmented structure, traditionally used for fondue; they are ideal for serving several dishes separately.
The rich brown center is framed by vibrant turquoise and golden tones, creating a color palette that is dynamic and earthy, typical of mid-century ceramics.
All items bear the original Vallauris stamps and are in excellent condition.
Their unique design and vibrant colors make these plates eye-catching pieces to use as decorative items or for serving fondue, cheese, appetizers, desserts, or hors d'oeuvres.
The pottery of Vallauris, born in the era of the Roman occupation, was relaunched by Picasso with a new creative momentum in pottery.
This led to the arrival of artists such as Jean Marais and many others.
Vallauris became fashionable in the 1950s–1960s, and developed ceramics as an art.
