Signed silver Jugendstil Lavalier pendant with Guilloche work, dating to ca. 1900–1910, weighing 14.75 g with a 4.5 cm pendant and 2.5 cm width, on a 46.5 cm dainty jaseron chain, made in the United Kingdom, in very good condition with slight signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Signed silver Art Nouveau 'Lavalier' with guilloché technique, decorated with a flower basket and a border of small silver beads, beautiful and skilled workmanship by a fine silversmith with the initials B&G, unfortunately not known to me but worth investigating!
The pendant hangs on a very fine, elegant Jasseron chain.
It was made around 1900–1910, probably in the United Kingdom!
The pendant has a hallmark on the back that reads 'sterling', indicating a high silver content.
Master's mark B&G and two more stamps, but they are difficult to decipher!
Total chain length: 46.5 cm. It has two stamps on the last link; unfortunately not legible, but acid-tested indicating a high silver content.
Pendant dimensions: 4.5 cm L x 2.5 cm W.
Weight : 14.75 grams.

The guilloché technique combines mechanical engraving with translucent enamel (colored glass powder that is melted onto the metal by intense heat) and can only be performed with specialized machines, so-called ornamental lathes.
It is a technique for decorating a metal or silver surface with geometric patterns.
Some say that it was a French engineer named Guillot who first developed a lathe for engraving patterns in metal.
Other sources claim that guilloché was invented by the German Hans Schwanhardt!
Photos are enlarged; please check the specifications for dimensions.
The necklace is lightly cleaned and shipped registered and insured in a Gift-Box with Track and Trace.
Any customs charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
