Bronze Thai Buddha statue from the mid-18th century (Rattanakosin, Chakri dynasty), meditating in the Dhyana Mudra with hands in the lap, with traces of 24-carat gold leaf and light weathering, measuring 10.5 × 6 × 2.5 cm and weighing 167 g, origin Thailand, provenance Galeriehouder / Antiekhandelaar, sold without stand, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Antique bronze Buddha statue from Thailand near the border with Laos. The Buddha sits in meditation in the Dhyana Mudra position with the hands in the lap and the palms facing upward. Originating from the Rattanakosin period during the Chakri dynasty in the former Siam (now Thailand). This statue dates to the mid-18th century, with weathering from exposure to the natural elements. Still faint traces of 24-karat gold leaf. Purchased in an antique shop in northern Thailand.

Maurice C. P. Verstuyf (born in Etterbeek in 1949) graduated in the Department of Graphic Arts within the Plastic Arts at the Higher Saint Luke Institute in Schaerbeek (Brussels) in 1971.
Maurice C. P. Verstuyf, also known as Stef Verstuyf, was until 2014 a senior art director and creative director at several international advertising agencies and started his tribal art collection in the early 1970s. This collection consists of masks and sculptures (not weapons), mainly from Congo (DRC) and also from Gabon, Angola, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Cameroon, and Nigeria. It also includes objects from Southeast Asian countries such as Bali, Thailand, Cambodia, Borneo, and Burma.
