AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique Dutch silver asparagus scoop, Netherlands ca. 1800–1840

Antique silver asparagus scoop with openwork, oval scoop and richly decorated handle, made in solid silver. This type of scoop was used for serving asparagus and other cooked vegetables and belongs to the specialized table silver from the early 19th century.

The scoop is hand-cut openwork, allowing the cooking liquid to drain away effectively. The handle is hand-hammered and fluted with late Rococo ornamentation, fitting the transition to early Neoclassicism. On the rear of the handle are authentic silver marks, corresponding to Dutch silver (likely 833/1000).

The object is in good to very good condition, with normal signs of use and aging. No fractures or restorations observed. The openwork is original and intact, with a beautiful, natural patina.
