Tripartite covered porcelain box from Qing dynasty China, dating to the 19th century, 15 cm high and 9 cm diameter, on a flared foot, decorated in famille rose with peonies and a bird, in good overall condition with minor aging traces and possible small paint touch-ups, provenance: private collection.
Description from the seller
UV Checked!
Three-part covered box on a pedestal.
China, enameled porcelain
Famille rose
Qing Dynasty, 19th century
Height: 15 cm
Diameter: 9 cm
Beautiful small cylindrical box composed of three stacked elements forming compartments, resting on a flared pedestal, and closed by a slightly domed flat lid. The overall form presents an elegant vertical silhouette, balanced by the flared base that evokes certain toiletry containers or ointment boxes.
The decoration, painted with enamels of the famille rose, develops into floral reserves with tender green leafy stems, small stylized white flowers, buds and carmine-pink petals; on the lid, a more elaborate composition of peonies accompanied by a small bird perched on a branch, an auspicious motif (spring, prosperity, harmony).
Each register is adorned with a distinct yet harmonious pattern, creating a visual rhythm when the compartments are stacked. The inner lips are left partially visible, revealing the assembly technique. The underside bears a red apocryphal mark in a four-character seal.
Condition :
Observed under UV.
Good overall condition. Slight impurities and age-related stains on the base. Probably small restorations to the painting. A few micro-pittings from firing and original enamel irregularities. Decor well preserved, with no cracks.
Provenance: Portuguese Collection - Kanaka The Collection
Shipping: Shipped with UPS / CTT with insurance and tracking
Possible to have a combined shipment with other items! Partial refund for the second delivery.
