Waterman Ideal nº 52 fountain pen, made of celluloid from the United States, dating to the early 20th century, 136 mm long and 11 mm in diameter, with an 18‑carat gold nib, original and functioning lever‑fill system, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
A0000001986
The fountain pen is presented in very good overall condition, especially noteworthy considering its century-old age. The body and cap in black ebonite maintain a firm and uniform structure, with no cracks, breaks, or repairs, preserving a natural patina that reflects the passage of time, reinforcing its authenticity and vintage character.
The golden hardware — clip, rings, and lever — shows surface wear and micro-scratches visible upon close inspection, consistent with use and age, with no structural losses or deformations. The original Waterman IDEAL clip is complete, well aligned, and has good tension.
The 18-karat gold nib is intact, with no cracks or bends, properly aligned, and with a soft flexibility characteristic of the model, providing a pleasant and controlled writing experience. The engraving remains well-defined.
The lever-loading system is original and functional, operating smoothly. (It is always recommended to inspect or replace the sac if intensive use is desired, a common practice with vintage pens).
Overall, it is an honest, original, and well-preserved piece, ideal for both discerning collectors and users of classic fountain pens who value the history, aesthetics, and writing quality of the great American manufacturers.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
Good auction!
