Tool - Tinderbox fire starter

This tinderbox - a firemaker to be used with a striker and flint - was in use for the copper-tube tinderbox and the Vesta case and the matches.
With the lid off, a spark flew from striking flint onto the steel; it landed on the tinder and a small flame appeared.

Matches did not exist yet. Later versions are brass tinderboxes that were hung on Frisian clocks, among other things.

A tinderbox was for daily use, both indoors and outdoors.
The tinder fungus is a special tree fungus that is very flammable.
As in the photo of a yellowish color.
