Description from the seller
DAUM – Monumental Crystal Centerpiece
Clear crystal blown and hot-formed
France, 20th century
Exceptional monumental crystal centerpiece, crafted by the prestigious Daum house, emblematic of French glassmaking know-how and mastery of crystal work in the 20th century.
This piece stands out for its spectacular dimensions — 63 cm long, 21 cm wide and 25 cm high — giving it a strong sculptural presence and an immediate visual impact. Its broadly deployed form, with stretched and wavy edges, evokes a fluid, organic movement, almost winged, characteristic of Daum’s monumental creations.
The crystal is perfectly transparent, of great purity, and worked with remarkable virtuosity: folds, veining and tensions of matter structure the piece and catch the light, producing subtle plays of reflections and depth. The central base, denser and more architectural, ensures perfect balance while accentuating the ensemble’s dynamic momentum.
Signed Daum, this centerpiece sits at the boundary between decorative object and true crystal sculpture. By its size and elegance, it is suited for a grand reception table, a central console, or a gallery display.
Condition: excellent state of preservation, with no chips or cracks, and only very light traces compatible with age and handling.
A spectacular and rare work, ideal for Daum collectors, lovers of monumental crystal pieces, or interiors seeking a strong, luminous, and architectural creation. Micro-scratches present on the piece but nothing that could alter its decorative value.
