Icon - Nicholas the Wonderworker - Bronze, Enamel

Russian icon depicting Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker,

Icon in embossed and gilded metal (reliquary mount / oklad) with refined ornamental scrollwork and a background enriched with blue enamels along the frame. At the center is depicted Saint Nicholas, half-length, with an incised halo, in the act of blessing, and with the opened Gospel bearing inscriptions in Cyrillic characters.

On either side of the nimbus appear the traditional figures of Christ and the Mother of God, who respectively hand over the Gospel and the omophorion, in keeping with the saint's classical iconography. The piece displays meticulous workmanship, with a rich rendering of the facial details, the liturgical vestments, and the foliate decorations.

Good condition, with patina appropriate to its age and minimal signs of wear compatible with the passage of time.
