A famous series of critical studies by Sainte-Beuve devoted to the authors and works of French literature, published in the Constitutionnel, then in Le Moniteur and Le Temps.
A fine, complete copy in 15 bound volumes of good quality from the period. The volumes 2, 3, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15 are in the original edition, the others in 2nd and 3rd editions.
The Causeries appeared for the first time between 1851 and 1862 in 15 volumes, the Nouveaux lundis between 1863 and 1870 in 13 volumes and the Premiers lundis between 1874 and 1875 in 3 volumes.

Very good condition, rubbing to the headcaps and some of the spine corners. Interior fresh and clean overall, a few scattered foxing spots without severity.
