Description from the seller
Golden-Bronze Mantel Clock with Silk-Thread Suspension - 19th Century Era
Prestigious gilded-bronze mantel clock from the first half of the 19th century, 1827/1835.
The piece stands out not only for its imposing dimensions and the quality of the chasing, but above all for the refinement of its internal mechanism.
The upper sculptural group depicts a gallant scene in period attire of a troubadour taste, typical of the Romantic era, with meticulous attention to fabric details and postures. The base is a masterpiece of chasing, with volute friezes and floral motifs that confer solidity and prestige to the piece.
Material: Bronze with original gilding.
High-Quality Mechanism: The movement bears the prestigious punch "Medaille d'or Pons 1827". This is an authentic work by Honoré Pons, renowned French watchmaker awarded the gold medal for the excellence of his mechanisms.
Dial: White enamel with elegant blue Roman numerals.
Era: 19th Century (Louis-Philippe / Napoleon III).
Dimensions: Height 50 cm | Width 42 cm | Depth 15 cm.
Style: Neo-Renaissance / Romantic.
Condition:
The clock is aesthetically in excellent condition, with the gilding still retaining its original brightness and a beautiful antique patina, slight restoration to the gilding on the part/stone housing of the mechanism, which was probably green in color.
