AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Cut crystal vase, model “Aline,” produced by the prestigious Val Saint Lambert crystal house in the second half of the 20th century, more precisely within the creative renewal of the 1960s. This model is linked to designs drawn by Charles Graffart, a major figure in Belgian glass design, whose influence can be seen in several emblematic sizes of the manufacture. The presented specimen is signed under the base “Val St Lambert M,” the “M” identifying the artisan cutter responsible for the finish.

The vase presents an elegant, architectural silhouette, characterized by a widely flared neck with subtly undulating edges, finely polished. The body is animated by rich relief decoration: deep, elongated, sinewy vertical grooves alternate with motifs in the shape of points and stylized petals, creating a highly dynamic play of facets. These reliefs tighten toward the midsection before flaring out again, giving the vase a sense of continuous movement. The base, thick and solidly set, is cut into broad regular facets that ensure stability and brilliance, while harmoniously extending the decorative vocabulary of the body.

The condition is excellent. The crystal is perfectly clear, with no opacification or structural damage. Only a small series of very discreet nicks on one edge are noticeable up close and have no impact on the overall readability of the piece. The edges remain sharp, the facets are well defined, and the signature under the base is perfectly legible.

Founded in the 19th century, the Val Saint Lambert crystal works managed in the 1960s to fuse its traditional know-how with a more contemporary approach to design. Under the leadership of designers such as Charles Graffart, the house then developed models with bold sculptural proportions, where light became a central element of the composition. The “Aline” model fully fits this trajectory, alongside creations such as “Bégonia” or “Glycine,” and illustrates Val Saint Lambert’s ability to renew its formal language while remaining faithful to the excellence of crystal cutting.

The dimensions are:
- Height: 20.2 centimeters,
- Outer diameter: 14.6 centimeters,
Base diameter: 8.2 centimeters.
Weight: 2350 grams.

The vase will be carefully packed and shipped quickly in a secure manner. On-site pickup and grouped delivery are available. The photos are part of the description.
