Guerlain Flacon aux Abeilles glass perfume bottle, 20 cm high, 8.5 cm wide and 8.5 cm deep, made in France and dating to 1940–1950, in good used condition with minor signs of age, featuring a bee motif and a spherical stopper.
Description from the seller
What you see in the photo is an iconic piece of classic French perfumery: it’s the famous “Flacon aux Abeilles” (Bee Bottle) from the historic house Guerlain.
Here is a detailed description of its distinctive elements:
Design Features
The Bee Motif: The cylindrical body is decorated with embossed bees, which are the imperial symbol of Napoleon III. Guerlain created this bottle in 1853 for the Imperial Eau de Cologne dedicated to Empress Eugénie.
The Dome and the Stopper: The upper part (the 'shoulder' of the bottle) features a scale pattern or festoons that evokes the dome of Place Vendôme in Paris. The stopper is spherical (or 'boule'), likewise decorated with the same scale motif.
Materials
Closure: The neck of the bottle has a frosted finish to allow the cap to fit snugly and seal in the fragrance, preventing evaporation.
Conditions: the glass is intact and clean, without cracks.
The absence of the front label makes it a neutral and elegant piece of furniture, perfect for collectors or to be reused. The photos are an integral part of the description.
