Description from the seller

Caucasian dagger (Kindjal) - Fine 19th century
- Double-edged forged blade with koftgari inlay -
Scabbard and handle in silver

Traditional Caucasian dagger (Kindjal type), dating to the late 19th / early 20th century (circa 1880-1900), from the Caucasian area.
The blade features a long, narrow double-edged blade, handmade, with a complex central-ribbed section (not flat), typical of blades designed for practical effectiveness and structural rigidity. The blade measures 36 cm, is sharpened on both sides, and retains an antique patina consistent with its age, with signs of use and surface oxidation.
On the ricasso, on one side, there is an inlaid metal gilded decoration (koftgari technique), partially worn by time, an element typical of high-quality Caucasian blades and indicative of artisanal production level.
The scabbard and the decorative parts of the handle are made of silver, richly worked in repoussé and chasing. The silver has been verified by acid test after light filing (absence of stamps, a circumstance common in artisanal Caucasian and Ottoman productions of the era).
The silver is thick and heavy, not a thin decorative layer.
Measurements
• Total length with scabbard: 50 cm
• Blade length: 36 cm
• Overall weight: about 700 g
Good overall condition for a weapon of its era:
• blade intact, sharpened, with original patina
• gilded inlay
partially present
