J.Noé - Coffee and tea service (5) - Silverplated

Silvered metal tea and coffee service, Empire style, dating from the early 20th century.

The set consists of:
- a coffee pot
- a teapot
- a covered sugar bowl
- a milk jug
- an oval tray with handles
The vessels rest on four hoof-shaped feet and feature rich ornamentation of palmettes and water leaves, characteristic of the Empire decorative vocabulary.
The zoomorphic pourers and the pinecone-shaped fretwork testify to meticulous metalwork.
The blackened handles (ebonized or ebony imitation) enhance the elegance and contrast of the piece.
This service perfectly illustrates the Neo-Empire taste that was very fashionable around the turn of the 20th century, suitable for both bourgeois interiors and grand reception tables.
