Description from the seller
The Blue House (1997)
In La Maison Bleue, Corneille uses a simple, almost childlike design. The blue house is central and radiates calm and distance, while the color gives the work a dreamy, symbolic atmosphere. It suits his playful and intuitive style, in which freedom and imagination are more important than realism.
Corneille (1922–2010) was a co-founder of the CoBrA movement and an important innovator in post-war art. His work evolved from abstract to figurative, with recurring themes such as birds, women, and flowers. This colorful silkscreen print is a fine example of his later style.
Dimensions of the artwork with frame: 77 x 91 cm
Dimensions of the work without a frame: 50 x 65 cm
Framed artwork.
Appointments for viewing are available. We have our own framing workshop (celebrating 85 years) and work with recognized restorers (Restauratoren Nederland). Please feel free to contact us via our website.
