Description from the seller
Set of 2 Antique Neo-Renaissance Chairs – Solid Oak – circa 1880–1900 – Turned legs & Sculpted crest
Description
A characterful set of two antique Neo-Renaissance chairs, produced circa 1880–1900 from solid oak.
The chairs are distinguished by their richly carved crest with a central ornament, curved pediments, turned baluster spindles in the back, and heavy turned legs with an H-shaped cross-brace. The proportions are sturdy and elegant at the same time — typical of historicist furniture from the end of the 19th century.
The wood shows a warm, natural patina with authentic signs of use appropriate to its age. The construction is traditionally executed with mortise-and-tenon joints and is in stable condition.
The upholstery was refreshed at a later date in a classic green-blue fabric with copper decorative nails. This creates a neat, cohesive look without compromising the historic character.
These chairs are exceptionally suitable as:
Dining room chairs in a classic interior
desk- or hall chairs
decorative statement pieces
Dimensions
Height: approx. 100 cm
Seat height: approx. 45 cm
Width: approx. 45 cm
Depth: approx. 45 cm
Condition
Good antique condition with normal signs of aging. Structurally stable.
A decorative and collectible piece of furniture, suitable as a statement piece in a classic or eclectic interior.
