This first complete edition in four volumes collects the works of Antoine Danchet (1671–1748), French dramatist, librettist and academic renowned for his tragedies and opera librettos written mainly for the composer André Campra. Despite the success of his librettos, he was often the object of Voltaire’s epigrams, who regarded him as a writer of mediocre literary quality.
Some marginal tears to a few leaves that do not affect the text. Portrait of the author in the frontispiece to the first volume. Four title-pages with decorative borders. Numerous initials and end pieces. Copies in good condition, usable and complete.
