Description from the seller
Narcisse Tordoir – untitled (1989)
From the UA Art Edition 2 folder
This work by the Belgian artist Narcisse Tordoir was issued in 1989 within the UA Art Edition 2 portfolio, a limited art edition in which several important Belgian artists of the 1980s were represented.
Tordoir belongs to the generation of artists who, in the 1980s, critically examined the status of the image. His work operates at the intersection of painting, photography, and reproduction. The sheet offered here—a powerful, graphic composition in which a monumental black symbol contrasts with a photographic sky—is representative of his exploration of image construction and iconography.
The offered copy is a Hors Commerce (H.C.) print, designated as I/XX. H.C. copies were not intended for regular sale and are typically rarer than the numbered edition, which increases the collectible value. Within the context of Belgian contemporary art from the late 1980s, this is an interesting and collectible work.
