Greek Orthodox - Candelabrum - Brass - 72,5 cm

A beautiful Greek Orthodox wall-hanging candle holder cross in Byzantine design that is made from cast brass.

At the top of the cross is a figure holding an object that looks like a sickle in one hand and a round object with facial features in the other (looks like a severed head). The symbolic meaning is not clear.

The main body has an intricate openwork lattice cross design. It consists of several sections connected by rings, that give the piece beautiful movement when hung. It is topped with a hook for easy hanging and fitted for two candles, one on each side of the cross. The candle holder was used for prayer and altar use. It looks very special when lit.

Good vintage condition with no structural damage. Looks very nice.
