Salvador Ibáñez y Abiñana. An instrument with a history.
For sale as-is; I do not know if it has had any repairs and it has been given a shellac varnish.
Characteristics:
- Top made of chestnut
- Back and sides made of rosewood
- Neck of cedar
- Fingerboard made of rosewood
- Metal tuners of the period
- Nut width approx. 49 mm
- Scale length 660 mm
- Very good action at the 12th fret
- Shows an imperceptible ding on the side that does not affect the sound
Shellac restoration and very well preserved.
This is a six-string guitar made by the luthier Salvador Ibáñez y Abiñana (*1853 †1917). He began building guitars in 1865 at 23 Muela Street in Valencia. This luthier, together with others such as Silvestre Senchordi, Luis Reig and his brother Salvador Pau, and Lisart, formed the most important Valencian guitar makers of the 19th century.
