Widow Duchesne, 1778. Octavo. Complete in 6 volumes. 592, 600, 479, 462, 472 and 524 pages. Full mottled calf of the period. Spine with 5 raised bands richly adorned with gold floral motifs. Title labels and volume numbers in red and green morocco. Good overall condition. Some wear defects (damaged spine ends, rubbed edges, corners), as visible in the photos. Solid and complete volumes, paper well preserved. Heraldic bookplate of the Viscount Vilain 14 pasted in.
First collective posthumous edition of the complete works of Saint‑Foix, playwright, historian and historiographer of the Orders of the King under Louis XV. This set constitutes the definitive collection of his literary and historical works, published two years after his death, and represents a major source for the cultural and urban history of the 18th century.
