An atmospheric Mediterranean still life by the Italian painter Mario Romano.
The work shows a composition of ripe prickly pears in warm, southern light. The impasto execution and the lively brushwork give the fruits plasticity and depth. Especially successful is the light reflection on the tabletop, which lends the painting calm and harmony.
