AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

DESK WITH CHAIR AFTER CARLO BUGATTI (1856–1940)

The exotically styled forms draw on both oriental and European architectural motifs. Even at the time of their creation, Bugatti’s designs were considered provocative—a deliberate counter-design to the ideals of technology and industrial production celebrated at world exhibitions.
The design, created around 1900, impresses with its exceptional variety of materials.
The desk is made of several woods (oak, beech, ebony) and is richly decorated with metal and leg inlays as well as copper and brass fittings. The chair features correspondingly elaborate ornamentation, is inlaid and clad in metal. The tabletop, seat, and backrest are covered with parchment, which gives the ensemble a particularly noble appearance.
Original works by Carlo Bugatti are regarded as rare art objects and are accordingly sought after.
