Description from the seller
The glasses were produced in Germany (probably in the FRG – West Germany).
Manufacturer: The label does not provide a specific glassworks name (such as Nachtmann or Lausitzer), which was common for smaller manufactories or series sold by department stores. The text on the sticker is a technical description: "Garantie echt Bleikristall handgeschliffen".
Translation: "Guaranteed genuine lead crystal, hand-cut."
Date of origin and Style
Dating: Most likely the 1960s or 1970s. That was when there was the greatest fashion for colored lead crystal (so-called Überfangglas).
Style: This is the classic style of German colored crystal. The technique involves applying a thin layer of colored glass onto clear crystal, and then cutting a pattern to reveal the bright interior.
Cut: A popular star/rosette pattern with geometric facets.
Technical characteristics
Material: Genuine lead crystal (Bleikristall). The lead content makes the glasses heavier, beautifully refract light, and produce a characteristic long ringing sound when struck.
Size: Judging by the proportions and the shape of the bowl, these are cordial or liqueur glasses (capacity usually about 25–50 ml, height around 11–13 cm).
Colors: The set includes a classic color range: ruby, emerald, cobalt, amber, and amethyst (amaranth).
